Maintenance Person

Based at our care homes in Dorset, Whitecliffe House in Blandford and Newstone House in Sturminster Newton.

This contract is offered as 40 hours per week with duties split evenly across two homes

£13.84 per hour
The Maintenance Person provides routine maintenance services and minor repair work within our care homes. Safe, reliable facilities are essential to our residents' individual well-being.

You will agree priorities with your line manager and carry out monthly tests and inspections on equipment such as fire doors, water temperature outlets, fire extinguishers, security doors, internal and external lighting, wheelchair, window restrictors, reclining chairs and nursing beds.

A central part of the maintenance role is administrative, keeping accurate records via our maintenance software system and reporting issues or observations to the Facilities Management team to ensure the home is safe and meets both Colten Care and Regulatory standards.


In addition to the planned maintenance tasks you will also provide a wide range and number of reactive repairs and requests including the checking and repair of profile beds, fitting shelves and picture hooks, changing light bulbs, securing door handles or helping to move furniture.

You'll have a keen eye for detail, reviewing your reactive requests raised on the maintenance software system for matters requiring attention and providing a responsive approach to the various maintenance needs of the care home.

About You


You'll have a good general knowledge of building and mechanical services and experience of a trade such as electrical work, carpentry or plumbing.

You are used to keeping records and are happy to work without immediate supervision, staying calm under pressure and with a great eye for detail.

You are a good communicator and will enjoy getting to know and conversing with our residents.
