Description

We require enthusiastic individuals who can work within the Portering Services team at the Northern General Hospital and offer flexibility to cover all Portering related tasks including Charge-hand and driving duties.


  • The transfer of patients from all wards and departments, in beds, wheelchairs or Stretcher or via the internal Ambulance making sure patient is secure to travel
  • Move patients with assistance and instruction from professional staff. This includes the occasional movement of patients with valuables under the supervision of the nursing staff
  • Transfer deceased patients to Mortuary, ensuring all equipment is clean after use
  • Assist with viewing out of hours. when requested by Duty Matron
  • Check and clean vehicles as instructed.
  • Act under instruction from medical/nursing staff in the event of a cardiac arrest or other emergencies i.e. Fire Alert.
