Description

We are looking for a Bid Writer to support in the management of, and completion of documents prior to their submission to Meldrum's Clients, ensuring that Meldrum's unique strengths and qualities are articulated in a clear professional manner, and that the company's profile is enhanced by submissions of an exceptional standard.

Working with a wide range of personnel, you will prepare submission documents that either address questions defined by the Client in a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire or Invitation to Tender, or will prepare submissions without the benefit of a Client defined structure.

Main duties;

  • To accurately assess the explicit and implicit Client expectations of a submission document,
  • To agree with the Bid Team clearly defined roles and responsibilities in the preparation of each submission,
  • To work with other members of the Bid Team, other employees of Meldrum and (where necessary) external consultants to assemble project specific information to incorporate into our submission,
  • To conduct daily checks on all portals and send opportunities to Senior Management to assess appetite,
  • To produce documentation for framework submissions,
  • To produce bespoke documents that meet or exceed the Client's expectations of a submission document, and which clearly demonstrate how Meldrum will meet or exceed the Client's expectations of their project,
  • To produce documents that are free from errors, are professionally presented, and display flair and creativity,
  • To participate in the review and editing of all submission documents, to ensure a high quality suite of submission documents that display Meldrum branding, are internally consistent and meet or exceed the Client's expectations,
  • To manage time effectively, setting deadlines for the production of documents and ensuring that these deadlines are met,
  • To motivate and assist others involved in the preparation of submission documents to produce high quality documents in a timely manner,
  • To present documents for review by the Senior Management prior to submission to the Client,
  • To ensure that information is handed over to the next team in the delivery process (so information from a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire is passed on to the Bid Team, and information from a Tender is handed over to the Commercial Team),
  • To liaise with the Group Marketing Director to ensure bids/tenders/presentations are written in the correct 'tone of voice' and branding is used in accordance with the Brand Guidelines to ensure consistency,
  • To actively pursue (in conjunction with the Bid Lead) Client feedback on our written submissions, and use this information to improve the standard of our tenders,
  • To work with Marketing to develop an effective library of information concerning Meldrum, and ensure that this is kept up to date and in line with Marketing objectives,
  • To develop an effective library of answers to common Client questions, to be used as references or templates in the preparation of bespoke submissions,
  • Builds relationships with colleagues to call upon if required to achieve a deadline,
  • Works with colleagues to fully understand our target clients and what they are looking for,
  • To actively promote your own development to ensure ongoing bid success,
  • General business development and marketing assistance when there is no specific bid work to be carried out,
  • Assisting Bid Leads in the collation of documents for review & submissions

Skills / Experience

  • Have experience in a similar role with a proven track record
  • Specific knowledge of the processes that public sector organisations go through
  • Excellent research, literacy and checking skills with close attention to detail with an excellent proofing and editing ability
  • Have a creative flair and drive to produce tailored documents that accurately portray the company's services
