WHAT TO EXPECT
Virtual Build and Test Operations is a growing team within the wider Engineering Operations function at JLR. We are uniquely positioned to support the transition of our products from the virtual world to the physical world.
As well as owning and operating a world class Virtual Series Framework, we are also on a journey to drive optimisation and transformation into the overall JLR Verification and Validation strategy.
Our approach is to focus on our ability to Virtually Build and Test our products with greater speed, confidence and coverage than ever before, and to unlock all of the time, cost, quality and sustainability benefits associated with increased virtual capabilities.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Deliver Multi Body System simulation models, with associated Non-Geometric Data, to meet vehicle programme deadlines with clear and open communication of issues affecting successful delivery
- Promote quality and best practice within the platform and with other platform teams, and support the maintenance of associated documentation
- Manage workload across the platform team, ensuring timing plans and associated process documentation is maintained
- Proactively identify data, tool and process issues which may impact future model builds and lead activities to prevent reoccurrence of any delivery timing or quality failures
- Coaching and guiding less experienced analysts
- Run meetings and otherwise liaising with Subject Matter Experts across engineering to address technical issues and continuously improve robust processes and throughput of models and data
- Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time
WHAT YOU-LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Knowledge and experience of MBS simulation techniques and methods, using Simpack or similar MBS software
- Strong team leadership capabilities
- Experience of maintaining traceability and structure in information in a variety of forms
- Analytical and problemsolving skills in approaching technical issue resolution
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas
- Qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline
- Be highly driven, selfmotivated and able to deliver under pressure with minimum supervision
Desirable:
- Knowledge of whole vehicle automotive product design, requirements, attributes, and verification
- Knowledge of a range of CAD, CAE and other virtual assessment processes, methods and tools
- Knowledge and experience of delivery using Agile methodologies and Scrum would be beneficial.
- Ability to work in multifunctional teams and influence decisions
