Research Fellow in Wireless Communications / All Spectrum Connectivity Hub:

Job description One post will focus on spectrum sensing for future wireless systems where the post holder will perform sensing measurements using equipment available within the Centre for Wireless Innovation across frequency bands in the microwave, millimetre-wave and terahertz (THz) regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. The post holder will use the measurements to characterise and develop models for spectrum utilisation and interference. They will then use the models to propose co-existence and spectrum sharing strategies.- The other post will focus on channel modelling for future microwave, millimetre-wave and THz wireless systems where the postholder will conduct a series of channel simulations and measurements at frequencies likely to be used by radio access technologies in future wireless systems. The measurements will also include novel propagation manipulating tools such as reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) developed in the CWI. Building upon the measurements, the post holder will develop a new generation of wireless channel models, specifically tailored to these systems.- Have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
