Part time (21 Hours per week)

The Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for an Open Research Administrator to support the Institute's priority of open research.


The Opportunity:

The Open Research Administrator will support the Usher Institute's priority of Open Research.

The postholder's responsibilities will primarily focus on ensuring that the Institute's research outputs and activities are captured and correctly recorded in PURE (the University's Current Research Information System (CRIS)).

They will provide technical and administrative support to ensure that the information is entered into Pure in a timely manner and that it meets sufficient metadata quality standards to ensure compliance with various Open Access policies, such as Research Excellence Framework (REF), University's Publication Policy and funder policies and best practice.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Ability to work to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail whilst dealing with multiple workstreams
  • Competent communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to describe services and complex issues clearly both in writing and verbally with tact.
  • Proven skills and experience in planning, prioritising and undertaking of work with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively with people across a broad range of levels and sectors and to participate as a member of a team
  • Ability to be flexible and open to learning and adapting to changes in external and internal environments and refocussing tasks
