Cuffley and Goffs Oak Medical Practice is looking for receptionists to join their busy practice team and help make a positive impact on the local community.

This role is to work between 25-30 hours per week, between the hours of 8.00am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Actual hours to be decided based on our rota needs, but it will be a combination of full and half days (mornings or afternoons).


Duties to include:


  • Dealing with telephone enquiries promptly from patients/general public and other health professionals.
  • Making/cancelling appointments.
  • Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.
  • Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints.
  • Advising patients of practice procedures.
  • Booking appointments and home visits.
  • Undertaking a variety of administration duties to assist the smooth running of the organisation.
  • Attending reception and staff meetings.
  • Helping to ensure the reception area runs smoothly at all times.
  • Ideally previous medical / healthcare receptionist experience although training will be given.
  • You will have excellent communication skills with a clear and polite telephone manner.
  • You will work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times.
  • You will have experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
  • You will be confident to work as part of a team and be able to think on your feet independently.
  • Strong IT and administration skills.
Flexibility is essential as you will sometimes need to work additional/alternative hours to cover for colleagues.


About Us
We are a large, friendly practice serving a patient population of approximately 13,000. We are based over two sites - Cuffley Village Surgery and Valley View Health Centre. We have a very supportive team comprising of GPs, nurses, paramedics, HCAs and administrative staff.
