Our NHS is changing, entering a new era in healthcare: one where everyone has a choice of where they receive their treatment with core NHS principles outlining the provision of care, creating new and exciting challenges for us.

We want patients to leave us feeling that they made the right choice, that they have received the best care and have been treated with dignity and respect.

This requires the right people, experience is obviously paramount, but so is the right attitude.

We want people who will thrive in a competitive environment and who are willing to go the extra mile to make patients feel that they are important, and colleagues feel that you are an integral part of their team.

In your new role you will be required to monitor patient activity and flow within the SDEC, ensuring a timely progression between arrival from ED or GP through to discharge and clinic follow up or possible admission.

You will undertake basic nursing duties such as clinical observations and ECG recording, perform phlebotomy and request appropriate tests and to assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, delivering high standards of care within the SDEC.

You will work in partnership with the SDEC staff maintaining the computer-based system for patient flow and ensure tests are ordered and carried out at appropriate times, offering support and guidance for both patients and relatives and maintaining patient flow through the SDEC department.

You will also prepare and organise the notes for the day, ensuring that any referrals have been sent, scans booked and blood forms completed and collect ED notes from overnight and discuss with our Doctors as to who needs to be bought back that day then contact each patient to inform them of their plan.

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest in the country, with a workforce of approximately 15,000 who serve a population of 1.2 million people.

We work together, and in conjunction with MSE Health and Care Partnership, to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients in a compassionate way, and provide a respectful, but vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

From facilities through to consultant specialists we want to be the best, to achieve this we need to recruit not just those who are the finest in their field but also those who have the potential to be.

Yes, experience is important but so is outlook - if you are dynamic, forward-thinking and enthusiastic we want you to join us.

We not only offer you a good working environment with flexible working opportunities, but also the opportunity to develop your career with access to appropriate training for your job and the support to succeed and progress.
