This role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice.

Currently, the team is in the office for 2-3 days per week.

Job description:


The Acquisition Safety and Environmental Officer will be required to undertake, develop, create and maintain Safety and Environmental Artefacts on behalf of Defence Digital Crypto Key (DDCK) and Crypto and Defensive Cyber (C&DC), including regular reviews.


Providing a true end to end safety and environmental service chain to ensure that the DDCK product lines are compliant with Health, Safety and Environmental protection Legislation and MoD Policy.


This role will support the product lines in the implementation and sustainment of the 'Run' function within the CK Service.

The safety and Environment artefacts will include a range of High-Grade Crypt Key services developed by Joint Crypto Key Programme (JCKP) and extant CK capabilities.

The job role activities include (but are not limited to):


  • Responsibilities:
  • Support the Product lines by undertaking, developing, creating and maintaining Safety and Environmental artefacts on behalf of Defence Digital Crypto Key (DDCK) and C&DC, including regular reviews
  • Understand the risks associated with products lines managed by DDCK, be empowered to recommend their acceptance, if within scope, or refer upwards (both via their own chains of command and with other stakeholder organisations) with supporting recommendations.
  • Assisting with the programme of audits. Facilitate Regulator audits of programmes and projects as required.
  • Assist with the operation and coordination of Acquisition Safety and Environmental (ASE) activities within an established Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS), ensuring it complies with policy and instructions, and status of the project.
  • Understand the risks associated with projects managed by the post holder, be empowered to recommend their acceptance, if within project scope, or refer upwards (both via their own chains of command and with other stakeholder organisations) with supporting recommendations.
  • Assisting in ASE corporate reporting to Defence Digital
  • Management of ASE status spreadsheet
  • Management of ASE training spreadsheet
  • Management of equipment related incident spreadsheet
  • Assisting in internal audits and hosting external audits
  • Attending ASE meetings, to cover ASE reviews and incident management
  • Develop and maintain ASE artefacts
  • Providing secretarial duties to the product line ASE meetings

Essential Criteria:


  • Experience or understanding of risk management.
  • Experience of creating, reviewing, managing and monitoring safety and environmental documentation.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret source information in the production of documentation.
  • Experience of stakeholder management.
  • Experience of maintaining management / corporate information.
