The Respiratory services are undergoing a transformation project to support the delivery an effective 7 day front ended respiratory service with enhanced support for our local and regional patients.
There is commitment to deliver 7 day consultant led ward rounds, delivery of a 7 day respiratory assessment unit to support early assessment of acute respiratory patients as well as the delivery of a dedicated 12 bedded Respiratory High Care Unit that supports the regional long term ventilation unit.
The LCC is evolving exciting links to regional Universities to develop an academi c Respiratory Hub for Lancashire and South Cumbri a and the post holder if they wish can be afford ed time to support engagement with the Universities to develop research and educational roles.
Specifically adopt, in conjunction with colleagues, an active role in the planning, development and delivery of the Respiratory Service for the Directorate.
Participate in the Consultant on-call rota at Royal Preston Hospital with additional cover during colleague's absence.
Share a 34 bedded respiratory ward and Enhanced High care ward with the other Consultant Chest Physicians, the Middle Grades and a team of junior doctors, including CMTs and FY1s.
Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time and ensure that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off duty periods.
Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development.
The appointee will have individual access to an office with appropriate IT facilities and dedicated secretarial support.
The post holder will carry out General and Specialist Respiratory Clinics. A standard template for each clinic has 3 New and 6 Follow up patients.
Cover Consultant colleagues, by prior agreement, for planned annual leave, study leave, and short term absences.
As a teaching hospital, we encourage all our staff to participate in teaching and training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
We are committed to developing our teaching and academic activities and can facilitate meeting any training needs for these roles.
It is the expectation that every member of the consultant body will undertake teaching of undergraduate medical students, other learners and trainees alongside providing clinical care during DCC activities.
We support the requirements for Continuing Medical Education as laid down by the Royal Colleges and are committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
You will receive the full support of the Trust and the Directorate to develop specialist areas of interest in line with Directorate business plans and the development of services generally within the Trust.
The Trust has the required arrangements in place, as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians, to ensure that all doctors have an annual appraisal with a trained appraiser and supports doctors going through the revalidation process.
