Description
12 month secondment, 15 to 22.5 hours per week

An exciting secondment opportunity has become available within the Partnerships and Strategy Team to shape Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust's approach to addressing health inequalities.

Health inequalities are differences in health across the population, and between different groups in society, that are systematic, unfair and avoidable.

These include how long people are likely to live, the health conditions they may experience and the care that is available to them.

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is committed to taking action to address health inequalities and the underlying causes of inequalities, both in our role as a provider of integrated health services and our role as a developing anchor institution, supporting the long-term aim of increasing life expectancy for our most deprived areas and for population groups experiencing poorer than average health access, experience and outcomes.

The postholder will help to shape and co-ordinate a programme of activity which aims to ensure that Humber's staff have a strong understanding and awareness of the principles of health inequalities and that health inequalities data is incorporated in performance reporting to enable the organisation to deliver services in a way that maximises our ability to address health inequalities.

You will work closely with key stakeholders within the Trust, in partner organisations and within the diverse communities we serve to raise awareness of health inequalities and how they can be addressed.

A key part of this role will be to develop and nurture these working relationships.

Additionally, you will be responsible for working with teams from across the Trust to embed action to address health inequalities in how we deliver care and how our services are designed.

You will sit within the Partnerships and Strategy Team and will have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to the wider work of this team.

We are an award winning and CQC rated good, health and social care Trust that delivers care to communities in Hull, East Yorkshire, Scarborough and Ryedale & Whitby.

We deliver safe, effective and integrated health services that improve the physical, mental and social health and wellbeing of patients and service users.
