College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine / Deanery of Clinical Sciences / Institute for Regeneration and Repair (IRR)

Fixed-term: starting 5 June 2023, for 12 weeks

on Campus internships are ONLY open to 2nd year to penultimate year undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh based in the UK.


We are looking for a graphic designer to support internal and external communications work within the Institute for Regeneration and Repair (IRR).

The intern will work within a small team of public engagement and communications staff to create digital assets and engaging visual ways to share IRR research via social media, websites, and print media.


The Opportunity:

IRR scientists and clinicians are internationally renowned, conducting cutting edge research and regularly publishing in the top biomedical journals.

Our small communications team strives to tell their stories to capture the imagination and interest of existing and new audiences.

Through these stories, we will grow our reputation, attract the best scientists, and maximise our research funding and investment.

on Campus is run by the Careers Service in collaboration with University departments and Schools.

It offers exclusive summer internships at the University over the summer for 2nd year to penultimate year undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Experience in graphic design and graphic design software packages (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Experience creating content (e.g. for social media, website, print media).
  • Excellent ability to think logically and communicate information in a clear concise manner, written, verbally, and visually.
  • A working understanding of Microsoft Office suite or similar (e.g. Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Selfmotivation and the ability to work independently to deliver results, including an ability to manage time, deadlines and multiple tasks.
