£31,396 to £36,024 per annum (A revised salary range for this grade of £32,982 to £38,205 is planned to take effect from Spring 2024).

Full Time - 35 Hours Per Week.


The University's Information Services Group (ISG) is offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join them as Assistant HR Partner on a permanent basis.

Reporting to ISG's Senior HR Partner, the successful individual will play a key role in providing advice and support to managers and employees across the function, as well as supporting with casework, gradings and project work.


This role offers a salary of salary of £31,396- £36,024 per annum and has a hybrid working pattern, with some days worked on-campus in Edinburgh and some from home.


What the job involves:

Providing dedicated HR advice and support to managers and employees across a staff group of c. 700 employees


Providing managers with informal and formal support with casework, including meetings and hearings relating to absence, grievance, disciplinary and probation issues.

Facilitating HR policy and training sessions for managers

Undertaking job gradings and ad-hoc project work as required

Maintaining good working knowledge of employment law and relevant internal policy updates


Working in close collaboration with other members of the HR Partnering team, as well as other specialist teams across the HR function.

Essential:

Substantial hands-on experience in a similar role

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders

Able to interpret, analyse and present complex information to support decision-making, reporting and/or practical guidance.

Able to work autonomously as well as working effectively within a small team

Able to show tenacity and resilience, as well as positively handling unexpected situations and developing solutions to complex issues.


Desirable
Experience of working in a large, complex, higher education institution or public sector organisation.

Experience of managing and delivering equality-related projects.
