Our client The Wessex Group comprises the trading companies Wessex Electricals (Shaftesbury) Ltd, incorporating Wessex Property Care, and Wessex Fire & Security Ltd.

Wessex Group Ltd, the parent company, provides a central management resource including HR, IT, accountancy and compliance support.

They are established since 1963 and remain a family owned and managed business based in North Dorset, employing over 200 staff.

Their mission is to operate a profitable business, enabling them to provide exceptional service and constantly be aware of their need to satisfy customers and staff alike.

To achieve these objectives, they continue to build on the foundations which have stood the test of time, excellent service, leading to life-time customers and the retention of quality staff through job satisfaction.

They are looking to recruit a new Head of their IT department in accordance with the job description below.

Main purpose:

Information and Communication Technology is critical to the day-to-day operation of the business, both at an administrative and field operation level.

The purpose of the Head of ICT is:

Manage and maintain the company's IT System comprising two hosts with multiple virtual MS Windows servers in a Hyper-V environment.
To Manage a staff of two ICT Support staff including the service desk supervisor and a junior/apprentice technician
To Manage a number of ICT related development projects as required
To Manage a significant ICT budget, selecting service providers and negotiating best trading terms
To Communicate effectively at all levels to promote the aims and objectives of the ICT Department, providing regular updates and management reports.

Key result areas:

To ensure maximum System "Up-Time"
To ensure IT support is delivered in a professional and timely manner.
To ensure compliance with information security legislation and recognized best practice, with a view to achieving ISO 27001 certification.
To protect the integrity of the company's information, specifically from cyberattack.
To manage and maintain the company's Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan
To provide detailed management information to an agreed timetable
