Reports to **Library Service Manager
**1. Job Purpose
To support the Library Service Managers, supervising teams of Library Assistants and
support staff. Ensure effective service delivery and under the Library Service Manager's
direction assume responsibility for continuity of the service provided.
**2. Principal Accountabilities

1 To supervise team(s) of Library staff and ensure continuity of the service:
a. Work allocation - ensuring libraries are able to deliver core business, and under the
direction of the library manager, support and supervise staff to deliver Service plans and
priorities.
b. Monitor staff in accordance with the performance management policy, manage, develop
and motivate Library Assistants and support staff to ensure that Aura priorities, standards
and performance targets are being achieved.
c. Responsible for monitoring employee rotas, consider, authorise and manage leave,
hours of work and sickness and ensure appropriate levels of cover are provided. Ensure
all records are kept up to date and arrangements are within the defined staffing levels,
improving sustainability and ensuring best value to Aura.
d. Responsible for attendance management of staff. Ensure that staff are managed In
accordance with the Aura attendance management policy, Monitor, record and address
issues related to staff attendance and timekeeping. Related supervisory tasks to include,
return to work interviews and attendance review meetings.
e. In accordance with the Aura performance management policy, line manage, develop and
motivate staff to ensure that Aura priorities, standards and performance targets are being
achieved.
f. Support drive, motivate and manage your teams to achieve Aura values and behaviours
g. Work cooperatively as part of the Aura Library Management team and Library network.
h. Liaise with Library Service Managers to deal with any issues arising from front facing
services, e.g. building repairs, stock/resource issues and customer complaints/queries.
i. To organise and manage minor buildings repair and maintenance issues at those
libraries directly controlled by Aura Leisure & Library Service.
j. To be aware of Aura H&S policy and the responsibility to themselves, other employees
and to the general public. To conduct Health and Safety risk assessments with branch
staff annually, or in response to issues encountered.
2.2 Work together with the Library Support Officer team to ensure that our libraries are able to deliver
core business, managing staff across the organisation to ensure continuity and best value to
Aura. Liaise with staff across all teams to manage cover arrangements where necessary.
Monitor annualised hours included in contracts and additional hours worked by permanent staff.
2.3 Manage and report on service performance to the Library Management Team on a regular basis
to ensure Aura Libraries are delivering against service objectives.
2.4 Support and promote the Aura volunteer programme. Liaise with the Aura Volunteer coordinator
to identify opportunities, train, support volunteers. Support the Library Service Managers to
coordinate staff training and development, identified through ongoing performance
management.
2.5 Assist the Library Services Managers with the organisation and evaluation of core events and
activities. Support all promotional initiatives, ensuring that all local marketing and promotional
opportunities are exploited to enhance the profile of Aura Leisure and Libraries.
2.6 To support the Library Service Managers to ensure staff deliver the key cultural, digital, health,
information, learning and reading offer across all Aura Libraries.
2.7 To support the Library Service Managers to ensure effective and efficient management of stock
and resources across the whole service. Support Library Service Managers to develop smart
use of stock management tools and digital technologies to improve sustainability of the service
operations.

3.1 Based at Aura Head Office, Deeside, this post is branch focused and affords an opportunity

across the whole of the service and in a number of locations.
