Description
Undertake dietetic assessments of referred patients with diabetes taking into account medical, social, cultural and psychological factors. Calculate nutritional requirements based on the interpretation of anthropometry, biochemistry, clinical condition and other physical parameters. Determine and prescribe the appropriate dietetic treatment and develop treatment plans. Provide training to patients, carers and staff system prior to discharge and order equipment/appropriate ancillaries patients.


Negotiate change with patients to enable them to achieve targets, overcoming barriers to change including dietary, environmental, social and psychological factors.

Communicate complex information in an understandable form to patients who may have barriers to communication and understanding. Please see Job Description and Person Specification for full details. The Chichester dietetic team is based at St Richard's Hospital and provides a service to the community Trust.


This post would be based in the Community Diabetes Team and receive clinical supervision form the Diabetes Specialist Dietitians, St Richards Hospital, is a 500-bed district general hospital situated in Chichester.

It is part of University Hospitals Sussex Trust. Dietetic specialities include diabetes, gastroenterology, paediatrics, bariatrics, nutrition support, eating disorders and community Dietetics. We train student dietitians for A, B and C placements.
