Are you passionate about supporting homeless or vulnerable people to progress towards independence and independent living?


As a Substance & Complex Needs Worker at the 40-bed accommodation project in Watford, you will be responsible for providing safe and supported housing to residents in two separate projects under one roof.

Half of the building is designated for WBC's Temporary Accommodation (TA) and the other half is for our Afghan Relocation project.

Your role will involve working with a caseload of 10 residents across both projects, delivering support in an individualized and person-centric manner, utilizing a multi-agency approach and working towards shared goals with residents to help them achieve realistic and achievable short, medium, and long-term goals

Hours of shift work:
Hours are worked Monday to Friday _and will include occasional weekend hours_. Shifts below include a 30-minute lunch break.

  • Week 1 Early shift 8am 4pm
  • Week 2 Late shift 1pm 9pm

What do we need you to bring to the role?

You must bring:

  • An understanding of complex needs and therapeutic approaches to support the residents in addressing their needs and inform change
  • An indepth understanding of childhood trauma and its impact on mental wellbeing and be able to deliver the appropriate information, intervention, advice guidance
  • Knowledge of statutory & nonstatutory provisions for client group
  • A developed understanding of therapeutic practice with adults with complex needs and substance misuse
