We are pleased to be working with aCharity which is a well-respected, award-winning, and innovative women-only organisation, providing emotional and practical support to women experiencing domestic abuse, and supporting women with short-termsentences to reduce offending.


Salary:
£27,000 - £30,000 per annum, pro rata per annum.


Location:
Based at Hammersmith - BUT WILL BE BASED IN THE COMMUNITY


Hours:
Full time, 35 hours per week, 9am - 5pm

About the role:

As a Housing Domestic Abuse Advocate, you will provide intervention, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic abuse.

Working within a fast-paced team, you will help empower women and ensure that the voice of survivors informs every stage of their journeytowards improved safety.

You will have your own caseload of survivors who hold social tenancies with local authorities or housing associations, and you will encourage them to engage with our service and ensure they have access to support.

You will also co-ordinatethe provision of multi-agency support which focuses on working with domestic abuse survivors to maintain their tenancies and prevent homelessness.


Key responsibilities include;

  • Crisis management and successfully managing high numbers of calls and/or caseloads
  • Risk and needs assessment, safety, and support planning, particularly with clients with complex/multiple needs
  • Initiate and manage support plans either facetoface or over the phone
  • Advising survivors of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies
  • Preparing reports for courts, case conferences and information for Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARACS)
  • Solid experience of supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse in all its forms, come from a sector with transferrable skills or possess a feminist/VAWG degree and be keen to learn and to train on the job
  • A good understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on the dynamics of domestic abuse (physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, socalled 'honourbased violence', forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women,children, families, and communities
  • Skills and experience in conducting comprehensive assessments of needs and risk for survivors experiencing domestic abuse, including carrying out short risk management and safety planning
  • Experience in assessing the needs and safety of any children that women using the service may have
  • An understanding of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation with regard to legal and civil options, housing, benefits, matrimonial and children
  • A good knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures, and legislation
