About us...
We're on an exciting journey to create a simpler, better railway for everyone in Britain.

Our people and culture are at the heart of this - we're bringing together a wide/diverse range of people from across the rail sector and from other industries to help shape the future of Britain's railway.

Joining the Great British Railway Transition Team (GBRTT) truly is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to be a part of something purposeful and revolutionary, where you can develop your skills and experience.

We believe people should be their authentic selves at work and be able to thrive, bringing unique experiences, fresh perspectives, and creative thinking to challenge conventional ways of doing things.

If you're up for an exciting challenge and like the sound of what we're looking for then we'd love to hear from you

What we're looking for....
***We're looking for people who are prepared to roll their sleeves up and take ownership, making it their place to make informed decisions and get things done. We need to work together as an industry to design solutions that make things better for our customers, so we're looking for people who can build great relationships and integrate with colleagues across the sector. We have a unique chance to change things for the better, and so embracing opportunity, using innovative and creative thinking - with a dose of healthy challenge - is critical to us. We're driven by a passion to deliver for our customers and our colleagues, so people who show they care deeply about their work and for their colleagues are the kind we love and are looking for

A bit about the team.

The Fares Ticketing and Retail (FTR) programme is fundamental towards creating a simpler and better railway experience for everyone in Britain.

This is a once in a generation opportunity to significantly transform the customer experience by modernising ticketing, simplifying journeys, removing barriers, and ensuring people are charged fairly.

We want to provide better travel information to help passengers whenever they need it throughout their journey and we're working on improvements that give customers confidence when booking, making them feel valued for choosing rail.

The job.

We are currently looking for someone to lead the delivery of the fares structure needed for the roll out of 'Pay as you go' zones within the UK Rail Network, working collaboratively with industry specialists.

You will be responsible for formulating a strategic proposal for the PAYG fare's structure and model, utilising commercial expertise and analysis completed by teams across the industry.

You will also be required to lead high level and high-profile stakeholder engagement to gain support and agreement for the PAYG fares structure proposition whilst supporting FTR in establishing the right commercial operating model for fares within PAYG zones and across the wider network.

What you'll bring.

  • Strong commercial background in transport related industries, with the credibility and ability to create and manage financially sound customer propositions that deliver business value in a complex market.
  • Strategic thinker, able to negotiate in a complex commercial environment and plan for sustained revenue growth in a changing market.
  • Experience of developing and managing complex and detailed delivery plans, with strong understanding of programme and project management principles.
  • Ability to lead complex conversations around customer and revenue benefits, managing stakeholder conversations and directing the analytical effort to achieving the right outcomes
  • Passionate about the scope for fares transformation in UK rail, with an outward looking focus across other industries to help challenge thinking in the right way.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, possessing the ability to interact, enage and maintain credibility with people at all levels across the business and industry. Experience of building strong productive relationships based on trust and empathy with senior stakeholders.
  • Highly adept and persuasive communicator, with an ability to present and articulate complex matters in a simple and effective way to a range of stakeholders to gain buyin and commitment
