When it comes to combatting threats, data is more important than ever. That's why we're growing our team and aiming to become a data-centric organisation. As a Technology Enabling Lead, you'll be at the heart of the action, changing the way we exploit data through vital projects and initiatives. It's your chance to play your part in Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP). Join us, and you'll be helping to protect the country.
The Data & Analytics pillar is at the core of our CTP network, transforming our use of data.

Here, you'll join some of our best and brightest minds who work to keep people safe from terrorism and other national security threats.

As a Technology Enabling Lead, you'll help transform our critical national security mission and enable Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) to get the most from our information.
We want the right data exploitable by the whole network against any threat, using the best available capabilities, while maintaining legal compliance and public trust.

To help us achieve our goals, you'll need knowledge of IT/DDAT environments. You'll also need experience of working on projects and programmes, and secure technology.

However, technical talents are only half the story - you must also be a good communicator who can present complex IT matters clearly.

In return, we can offer a package that reflects your expertise.

Besides the rewarding nature of the job itself, a competitive salary and a Civil Service pension, you'll benefit from excellent career and professional development.

Who we are:

Counter Terrorism Policing is a collaboration of UK police forces working with security and intelligence agencies to help keep people safe and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity.

We do this by partnering locally and globally - from neighbourhood policing teams supported by a national network of specialists, to our investigators and expert advisors in every corner of the world.

The team you'll join:

You will join a growing team that sits at the heart of the CTP network. The Data and Analysis Pillar was established in 2019 to transform CTP's use of data.

Our vision is that CTP becomes a data-centric organisation, with the right data exploitable by the whole network against any threat, utilising the best available capabilities, while maintaining legal compliance and public trust.

And our remit is broad:

We are responsible for the leadership and professional development of CTP's nationwide analytical community - we lead the production of data-driven intelligence and analytical products to inform CT investigations and operations.

We lead engagement with industry and academia to exploit emerging science and technology and deliver innovative solutions to the CTP network.

And we are creating a national data science capability - to help our regional operational and investigative teams tackle the trickiest data-related problems.

The Data Team is multi-functional team that sits within the Data and Analysis Pillar and provides a range of cross-cutting services to the HQ and wider network.

We define the strategic vision and priorities for data and technology. We enable decision-making on all things digital, data, analysis and technology through coordination of a range of senior boards.

We lead the development of data-related policy and standards internal to CTP and influence wider government policy and data legislation.

We provide the tools and frameworks to ensure we deliver technology that is feasible, provides the required operational impact and allows users to get the most from our data while ensuring we remain ethically and legally compliant.

And we oversee, coordinate and support the delivery of technology that continues to meet the evolving needs of our users.

Key Tasks
You will play an integral role in delivering a step-change in how we exploit data.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting national CT Policing Community customers in the definition of appropriate user requirements, developing scoping studies, liaising with operational teams, procurement services and lead accountants as required. To ensure that any new requirements are not already serviced by existing national products or services.
  • Understanding the national CT Policing Community's current and future needs for technology services, ensuring that strategic requirements for new and existing technology products and services are aligned to technology and other CTP HQ strategies.
  • Supporting the Strategy and Policy
