Description
The post holder is responsible for the service delivery and performance of the CT and MRI Services. Management of the unit will include promoting best practice techniques, and training on the procedures within the facility.

The post will involve setting up the management systems, access control documentation, health and safety and patient safety (including IRMER and IRR99 regulations) requirements, infection control procedures, training plans and development plans.

The manager will be responsible for managing workflows across both services ensuring that patient safety and quality of care is of the highest standard at all times.

The post holder will act as Radiation Protection Supervisor and report to the Compliance officer (Radiation Safety).

Where required the manager will need to perform clinical duties The lead will promote data quality and quality assurance management to ensure data integrity and image quality is upheld.

In addition, the post holder will liaise with the Imaging clinical governance structures and drive forward key elements and process changes derived from the various groups into the facility and recommend changes as required within the governance structures.

The post holder will take on some department wide duties.


The post holder will be responsible for working across the Whittington Health sites, as well as other Community Diagnostic Hubs within NCL.

The post holder will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating the patient pathway within the facility taking into consideration the local and national target objectives.

The post holder may be required to act as operational manager and drive forward the objectives of the department and the Trust To take responsibility professionally and legally for providing a high standard of clinical care and patient welfare, and supporting other staff to do likewise To communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and their escorts prior to, during, and after an examination, especially in difficult or emotional circumstances, using both verbal and non-verbal communication skills To acquire diagnostic images, and physically position the full range of patient presentations, accurately for examinations, considering patient limitations and adapting standard techniques where necessary To implement local procedures in line with clinical requirements, NICE guidelines, and departmental develop plans under the clinical governance structure of Imaging and Group clinical services Responsible for developing working practices to meet current best practice standards and legislation / regulatory requirements, including the provision of documents that are accessible and regularly reviewed.

Responsible for the compliance with statutory and Trust requirements for record keeping and information governance within the unit.


To ensure that data integrity and image quality is maintained Working with operational colleagues to assess patient pathways and monitor waiting times and targets in line with Trust local targets and report to the operational managers any issues To ensure compliance with cancer, diagnostic and 18 week wait targets.

To ensure processes are put in place that deliver an efficient and cost-effective service To identify and ensure delivery of financial improvement objectives for the area To ensure the services are within budget and developments To ensure management of equipment and compliance with standards to include regular QA, maintenance and testing of equipment.

To ensure appropriate risk assessments are performed and actions put in place to mitigate risk Lead the infrastructure which measures performance within the service.

Ensure data validation is completed to achieve required national and local DM01 targets and milestones, as well as transferring of images to all NCL Users both acute and primary care.


Support the investigation of patient complaints, analysing the issues and identifying any faults in procedures, processes or the treatment of patients and making appropriate recommendations to the Operations Manager and others to avoid future occurrences.

To manage staff in accordance with HR policies and procedures and manage an workforce related issues
