Job description:


We are now looking for a Control Room Operator to work for Mobiie (a joint venture company formed between Arcadis IBI Group and Egis), delivering the Traffic Scotland service 24/7 on behalf of Transport Scotland.

This role is based at the flagship Traffic Scotland National Control Centre at South Queensferry, with spectacular views of the Firth of Forth and the 3 famous Forth Bridges.


Responsibilities:


  • Monitoring Scottish trunk road network using CCTV and Intelligent Transportation Systems
  • Responding to and managing planned and unplanned incidents and events throughout Scotland
  • Controlling the network using variable message signs, motorway signal units and traffic signals
  • Liaising with operational partners such as Police Scotland, road maintenance companies, Traffic Scotland roadside engineers, Transport Scotland and the Met Office
  • Communicating traffic and travel information via our website, social media and stakeholder reports

Shifts:


  • Fulltime (40 hrs)
  • Dayshift and Nightshift (2 days > 2 nights > 4 days off)

Schedule:


  • 12hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Night shift
  • Weekend availability

Profile:


  • Standard Grade, GCSE, or equivalent
  • Customer service, control room or operational role: 2 years experience
  • Good standard of written work
  • Good communication skills
  • Good geographical knowledge of Scotland and its Trunk Road/Motorway Network
  • Applicants within daily commute of South Queensferry are preferable
