We are seeking an additional Clinical Matron to join our team to support our expansion of services within the division.


The Integrated Medicine & Patient Flow (IM & PF) Division is seeking to employ a permanent Clinical Matron to join our friendly dedicated team.

The IM & PF Division are committed to improving services for our patients and delivering excellence in patient care.

The successful post holder will have proven managerial and leadership experience. You will have experience of working at managerial level (band 7 and above).


You will also be required to work evenings and weekends/Bank Holidays on a rota basis supporting the trust wide Quality Matron role between the hours of 7.30am and 9pm 7 days a week.


Through strong clinical leadership and effective management the Matron will support the department and Team Leaders to promote and deliver excellence in nursing and midwifery care maintaining and continually improve clinical standards evidenced by achievement of key quality performance indicators.


The Matron's key responsibility is to ensure that the patient experience is of the highest quality inspiring patient and public confidence.

This will be achieved through high visibility, accessibility and surveillance.


The post holder will ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond.

He/she will promote best practice in the prevention of infection through ensuring a clean and safe environment.


To have local open and transparent communication channels that support the ward team to do the right thing for people we care for, to be bold when they have good ideas and to speak up when things go wrong to ensure learning and quality improvement.

To oversee the delivery of high quality, safe and effective nursing or midwifery care focused on improving outcomes and experiences for patients, families and carers and effectively managing risk

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, and offers a full range of district hospital services and community health services to a population of

1.6 million in Lancashire and South Cumbria.

The Trust houses a state of the art Simulation & Skills Facility that provides training for all grades of staff to improve the safety and quality of the service that we offer our patients.


We run a portfolio of in-house courses that can be accessed by all staff to enhance their professional development needs.

The training is supported by the use of modern equipment including part task trainers for such skills as venipuncture and full body manikins for the practice of emergency drills.


This role will be pivotal in leading quality initiatives within our division joining a dedicated team of 7 Clinical Matrons already in post across the division.

The post holder will be working closely and in partnership with the multidisciplinary teams across the Division to support innovation and quality within nursing care and patient pathways.

You will also ensure robust operation management and effective delivery of services, working in partnership with the other Matrons in Division and across the Trust.

An understanding of local risk and clinical governance agenda, quality improvement, and a passion for developing teams is essential.
