As a Barclays Economic Capital Validation Analyst you will be trained to become a validator primarily for the economic capital models and stress testing models cross various risk types.

You will combine qualitative and quantitative skills to correctlyidentify key issues of models and assign remediation actions and communicate results at different forums working closely with senior stakeholders.

What will you be doing?:


  • Building challenger models to help the validation review and challenge process for all new and existing models
  • Validating models by looking into data quality, assumptions and limitations, model design and conceptual soundness, implementation, performance results
  • Understanding internal Policies and Standards, defining and supporting the assessment of Model risk
  • Creating and maintaining the correct information in the Group model database for the set of validated models
  • Assisting Lead Validator and work closely across teams to meet timeline

What we're looking for:


  • A quantitative background, i.e. a MSc in Econometrics, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Operational Research or Physics
  • Minimum of one to two years of relevant experience in risk model development
  • Good knowledge/experience in at least one of the main risk types in scope and economic capital/stress testing modelling
  • Solid programming experience (preferably in Python and/or R)

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • A Ph.
D. in quantitative fields, such as Mathematics, Physics, Operational Research, Econometrics, and Economic

  • Good knowledge of IFRS9 and IRB models and ICAAP framework
  • Solid programming experience in C++/SQL
