Description

Manual Machinist - Mainly turning using Harrison Alpha lathes, with some manual milling on SMX / DPM / Huron milling machines - based at Annfield Plain ~ £14.

37/hour

If you have done any programming on the Alpha lathes beforehand that would be fantastic but not essential.


1. Key Skill Requirements

  • Time served manual lathe operator
  • Some experience of Alpha-Cam or similar basic programming would be advantageous but not necessary
  • Technical knowledge of drive system assemblies shaft tolerances, keyways, bearings, bushes, sprockets etc
  • Measuring and reverse engineering of turned components
  • Skilled in use of measuring equipment, i.e. internal/external micrometers
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Enthusiastic and willing to transfer knowledge to others, including training of apprentices
  • An understating, interest and enthusiasm for manufacturing and engineering in practical terms
  • The ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • The ability to use inspection equipment to selfverify own work
  • Can fully understand and meaningfully contribute to discussion and decisions within the machining operations team
  • Selfmotivated can work independently and autonomously when required
  • Effective communicator
  • Can make accurate judgements and identify appropriate courses of action to address problems as they arise
  • Innovative and proactive problemsolving
  • Willing to work overtime to support business needs as and when required

3. Desired experience and qualifications

  • Experience running manual and CNC lathes
  • 10+ years lathe operating
Monday to Thursday 7:30 - 16:30, Friday 7:30 - 12:30

Holidays - 192 hours, rising to 200 hours after 5 years' service

Rate of pay - £ £ depending on experience
