Description
Undertake advanced specialist specimen dissection independently.

Provide specialist scientific knowledge and work as a member of the team to assess, plan and contribute to the provision of a specialised service.

Assist the Service Manager and Advanced Scientist Dissector in the routine management of specimen reception and dissection room.

Undertake routine and complex laboratory work within the section ensuring the work is performed in an efficient, organised, and professional manner to provide a high quality, timely service.

Train and mentor junior members of BMS staff and doctors in training as required in specimen dissection. Assist in preparation and review of Standard Operating Procedures and other quality documentation relating to BMS Dissection.

Provide advice to both internal and external colleagues on the suitability of specimens for analysis and the correct specimen pathway required.

The department is approved for training by the IBMS/ HCPC and holds


UKAS ISO:
15189 accreditation.


Working hours are within 08.00 to 20:00 Monday to Saturday and the successful post holder will be expected to contribute to the 6 day service on a rotational basis (5 days a week).

You will be required to work in the Histopathology laboratories on both QMC and City Hospital NUH campuses.

Informal visits to the department are strongly encouraged.
