The Role


Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager you will own all areas of nominated trading companies within the group consolidation ensuring timely and accurate reporting on all aspects of jobs and project delivery whilst providing meaningful analysis and business insight to create shareholder value and stakeholder involvement.


This is an integral business partnering role and a key role within the business entity for all financial related revenue matters for the Business Unit.

The role will be working closely with the key operational leads and financial control personnel to help track, review and account for project progress and completion across a broad geographical area and range of projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the management and collation of the revenue related month end result and ongoing forecast requirement in an accurate and timely way to comply with group timetable
  • Support on efforts to provide pertinent and timely analysis and reporting of the financial performance of project progress and completion to enable an effective commercial review of all aspects of performance with associated KPIs
  • Drive improved transparency and accountability with a robust framework for ongoing analysis
  • Challenge and collaborate with Operations to ensure commerciality and profitability are evidentially in focus
  • Enable and deliver financial training for nonfinancial colleagues responsible for project management ensuring it is understood why data is up to date and accurate
  • Ultimate ownership of the month P&L and BS to ensure it is prepared in accordance with compliance and company's accounting policies and procedures
  • Lead the month end close activities in collaboration with relevant colleagues including Business Partner, Commercial Finance Manager, financial control and operational teams etc.
  • Preparation and analysis of the specific elements of the weekly and quarterly forecasts with associated detailed commentary
  • Monitor and report on all project progress and completions to include overall profitability
  • Responsible for monitoring and reviewing intercompany transactions
  • Lead preparation and present monthly reporting packs for variance project managers to include detailed variance analysis
  • Lead processes and procedures to satisfy compliance requirements being proactive for all areas of responsibility
  • Support the Commercial Finance Manager on ad hoc projects and analysis
  • Line management for junior Business Partner

The Successful Applicant

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA / Financial related degree or equivalent level
  • Advanced MS Office skills (particularly Excel)
  • Proven and strong experience in business partnering/commercial finance
  • Strong accounting knowledge including an understanding of revenue recognition
  • Ability to interrogate financial data and effect appropriate follow up actions and interpret and report on outcomes/results
  • Have experience in working in a growing organisation and being the bridge between the business and Finance
  • Commercially minded and highly analytical problem solver
  • Confident to challenge colleagues to ensure robust financial reporting
  • Ability to work independently and be a selfstarter
  • Strategic & operational level thinking
  • Experience working with and influencing financial and nonfinancial stakeholders
  • Passionate, motivated, proactive and flexible attitude
