Description
Our client, a leading hospitality/entertainment business has a great opportunity for a Financial Controller/Head of Finance (No. 1 in the Finance Business Unit) to join during an exciting period of change and growth.

You will be the lead finance person inthe business unit with a team of 5 and you will be reporting into the group.


Your remit will include the preparation of timely, accurate financial information for senior management as well as leading the finance team and take responsibility for the financial control and transaction processing within the business unit, running theday to day activities.

You will also be required to carry out ad hoc projects while working closely with senior management.

There is also a strong requirement to ensure the Finance Department is as efficient as possible, and providing as much financial informationto decision-makers as possible, and to give the business unit and Group confidence in the numbers.

This will mean being proactive and leading elements of change within the business unit. This is a much more day-to-day finance and operational role rather thana commercial/strategic role.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for the day to day running of the finance department.
  • Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
  • Development and Improvement/Streamlining of Financial Reporting
  • Management and development/mentoring of the Finance Team
  • Motivate and lead finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation
  • Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
  • Take the lead in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members

Experience Includes:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Hands-On approach to running a Finance Department
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Experience and confidence in reporting to Group
  • Proactive, with a creative approach to relationshipbuilding, critical thinking and problem solving
  • Experience of managing a finance department
  • Strong IT/Systems skills
  • A background in events/entertainment/sports/exhibitions would be a distinct advantage
