We have an exciting opportunity for a high calibre individual studying for their actuarial qualification to join our award-winning and growing Insurance and Financial Services team, supporting the Partners, Directors and Consultants across a variety of assignments.

The role will be primarily focussed on supporting our growth on the non-Life side, including the Lloyd's and London Market.

Alongside this there are opportunities to get involved in a diverse range of projects on the Life and Investments side.

We will provide comprehensive study support as you work towards qualifying as an actuary.


Core to our requirements is the ability to successfully bring solutions to the current client base and help attract new clients.

It is also essential that the individual is energised by working on a project basis while relishing the opportunity to work across a number of areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the identification and development of consultancy opportunities with new and existing clients
  • Providing high quality support to insurance and reinsurance clients both in the UK and globally, either on a consulting basis or via secondment to the client, delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Developing and maintaining a good relationship with nominated clients in the nonlife sector, building a strong network of contacts in the insurance industry
  • Collaborating across the IFS team, and with our digital teams, to deliver on crosspractice projects
  • Helping to promote our insurance offerings to a wider audience, which includes supporting on the drafting of articles and presentations
  • Non-Life experience, with experience in reserving, capital and/or pricing processes, whether from an 'inhouse' or consulting background
  • Strong interest in IT, systems, software, coding and data management would be beneficial
  • Strong track record of delivering work on schedule
  • Flexible in approach and comfortable with working in a changing environment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting demands
  • Strong personal values, including a commitment to professional and ethical behaviour
  • Collegiate worker with high emotional intelligence, able to establish rapport with colleagues
  • Enthusiasm for developing a strong network of contacts in the nonlife insurance sector
  • Willing and able to travel where necessary, for example, to client meetings, networking opportunities and into their designated Hymans Robertson office as part of our hybrid working model
Qualifications and Experience

  • Sound grounding in actuarial techniques and strong IT skills
  • Knowledge of the requirements of Solvency II and familiarity with the relevant parts of the PRA and FCA handbooks
  • Appreciation of risk management frameworks typically used by insurance businesses
