Sure Start Staff | Tool Maker | Engineering | Oldham | Permanent
As a
Tool Maker, you will undertake mould repair, modifications, type changes, and servicing in a busy toolroom. Stripping and repair by milling, Turning, Grinding EDM, and fitting skills. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date service and repair records.


Days:
Monday - Friday


Hours:
Between 8am - 5pm


Salary:
£35,000+


Responsibilities

  • Strip, repair, and service mould tooling by various methods such as milling, fitting, etc. making modifications as required.
  • Deliver production product quality to both internal and external quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate records and documentation.
  • Support the continued development of Apprentices by identifying training needs and promoting teamwork.
  • Liaise with other teams/departments to schedule tool changes to ensure they are efficient and safe with minimum scrap and machine downtime.
  • Adhere to 5S and H&S standards supporting safety initiatives, safety improvements, hazard awareness, and the management of behaviorbased safety programs.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in injection mould making.
  • Good understanding of screw cores hydraulics and hot runner systems.
  • Confident in using Excel/PDF/Word/Powerpoint and computerised tools and techniques.
  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing strategies.


  • Good organisational skills

  • Well organised, able to deal with numbers, facts and standards, and a welldeveloped ability to manage and support others.
  • Familiar with continuous improvement techniques to sustainable levels and able to demonstrate drive and passion for continuous improvement.
  • CAD experience preferred.
