About us
The position is part of the Councils Housing Solutions service and is located at Ty Iolo Hostel in Barry.

Ty Iolo offers temporary accommodation for families and individuals experiencing homelessness while waiting for permanent housing.

The hostel, Ty Iolo, has 24-hour staff offering assistance to 21 families.

We are a caring and understanding team that collaborates closely with residents in temporary housing.

About the role

To keep a detailed record of all actions taken regarding hostel management issues/incidents and communicate with the Temporary Accommodation Manager to report any incidents.

To register new residents at Ty Iolo and complete all required documentation, including license agreements and housing benefit forms.

To provide immediate assistance to residents in case of emergencies.

To interact with residents and various professional agencies.

Handling out-of-hours calls.

To actively participate in the Hostel Rota to ensure adequate security and effective management in compliance with the Councils legal obligations and established policies.

This involves assisting in coordinating overnight stays/weekends/evenings/bank holidays.

To maintain a non-judgmental and empathetic approach towards the situations and needs of residents.

To establish rapport with residents and professional agencies.

To perform effectively under pressure and maintain a composed and professional demeanor.

To oversee and fulfill all other hostel responsibilities.
