DUTIES OF THE POST / LEVELS OF RESPONSIBILITY The post holder will have sessions to support the services within the Clinical Service Unit (CSU), as well as pro-rata special study sessions per week to develop or explore a specialist interest within the womens clinical service unit.

The post holder will participate in the first on-call rota of the CSU.


Clinical:
Routine ward management, Obstetrics and Gynaecology outpatient attendance with consultant and registrar supervision. Attendance at Caesarean section and elective gynaecology operating lists.


On call duties for labour ward at St James University Hospital (SJUH) and Leeds General Infirmary (LGI), the Gynaecology Acute Treatment Unit (GATU).

There will be supervision by a second on call doctor and consultant (the latter may be indirect from home during night on call duties).

A full shift on call system is in operation that rotates through obstetrics and gynaecology over a 20 week on call rota template.


Administrative:
Completion of administrative work associated with clinical duties such as dictation and approval of clinic letters.

Review of investigation results and determining management plan with supervision of a second on call doctor (registrar) or consultant.

TEACHING Attendance at departmental Friday afternoon teaching, which takes place 3 out of every 4 Fridays, is expected by all clinical members of the department.

Teaching centres on audit and quality improvement projects, perinatal morbidity and mortality meeting, obstetrics and CTG and gynaecology teaching.

Junior doctors of all grades are expected and encouraged to present cases at these meeting and to be active participants.
