Health Safety and Environmental Officer


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Safety and Environmental Advisor based at our Wortley, Leeds site, LS12 4JH.


Purpose of the role
To support the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) function. Provide administrative support the HSE Manager and wider business.


Main duties and responsibilities

  • Have a sound knowledge of H & S procedures and practices.
  • Administration and management for the H & S inbox, Eco Online and general queries.
  • Maintaining Eco Online dashboards and providing reporting for the wider business as required.
  • Attending Site H & S meetings ensuring actions are reviewed.
  • Be aware of the H & S manual contents and providing assistance where required.
  • Ensuring that all HSE training records are fully maintained and uploaded to Mitrefinch.
  • Diarising and completing course registration for any mandatory refresher training required.
  • Ensuring selfassessments are scheduled yearly or as and when changes are made to DSE workspaces.
  • Providing quality Site inductions for all new officebased recruits.
  • Ensuring relevant new starter processes are complete within 4 weeks such as DSE, H & S training and Risk Assessments needed.
  • Providing support to HR and Line Managers for employees returning to work following absence or injury and on any other temporary requirement for restricted duties e.g., during pregnancy.
  • Supporting employee welfare initiatives.

Qualifications and experience

  • Understanding of the Health and Safety at work act 1974
    (required).
  • At least 2 years knowledge and experience in providing support for the H & S function
    (required).
  • IOSH Managing Safety
    (required)
  • NEBOSH Certificate
    (desirable)

  • Ability to understand the importance of processing information in a prompt, accurate and efficient manner in accordance with legislation, policy and procedure.
  • Adaptable, able to deal with change and have a willingness to embrace new opportunities and working practices within H & S.
  • Hard working, able to work to tight deadlines and prioritise tasks putting safety first at all times.
  • Proactive and self driven, keeps training and other departmental activities on track.
  • Ability to follow instruction and provide support as required.
  • Be able to demonstrate a positive attitude towards H & S.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal)
  • Approachable, has good Interpersonal skills with an ability to influence and motivate people at all levels
  • A good understanding of environmental policies and procedures (desirable).

Shift pattern:


  • Monday to Friday between 09:0017:30hrs

Salary:
£34,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
