Description

A Commercial Litigation Paralegal is responsible for the receipt of the initial instructions, matter creation and associated assurance checks to support risk assessment collection and recording of initial witness evidence to support the Client's Claim.

A Commercial Litigation Paralegal is also responsible for building and maintaining relationships with third parties to assist with investigations into obtaining a guarantee certificate for each matter.


Primary Duties:


  • Logging Client's signed Forms of Authority and Completed Questionnaire on the Case Management System
  • Requesting and logging required documentation from the Client
  • Carrying out Welcome Call with Client
  • Rearranging Client Appointments
  • Updating Guarantee Provider information on our Case Management System and requesting Guarantee
  • Requesting information from Estate Agents and placing onto our Case Management System
  • Requesting information from Conveyancing Solicitors and placing onto our Case Management System
  • Logging and recording Guarantee documents on our Case Management System
  • All necessary calls and correspondence with the Client and third parties in the initial stages of the Client's claim.
  • Answering customer calls, listening to their concerns and solving problems
  • Action BEIS Response on the Case Management System and/or checking for Guarantee
  • Requesting and logging required documentation from the Client
  • Updating Guarantee Provider information on our Case Management System and requesting Guarantee
  • Logging and recording Guarantee documents on our Case Management System
  • Requesting OFGEM Information
  • All necessary calls and correspondence with the Client and third parties to obtain a guarantee certificate
  • Management of Guarantee spreadsheets and ensuring these are sent to the relevant third parties within agreed timescales
  • Management of responses received from third parties and ensuring all responses are imported onto the relevant files and next steps are agreed.
  • Conducting file reviews to determine the next steps towards obtaining a guarantee certificate
  • Management of own personal task list Inputting Questionnaire details in the Client's draft Witness Statement
  • Conducting a review of the Client's file prior to Witness Statement Appointments
  • Conducting a detailed telephone appointment with the Client to obtain further details to draft the Witness Statement
  • Accurately assessing prospects of the Clients claim follow the statement appointment and referring as necessary
  • Drafting the Client's Witness Statement
  • Corresponding with the Client in respect of their Witness Statement
  • Engaging with the Client for approval of the Witness Statement Actioning any necessary amendments in respect of the Witness Statement
  • Record receipt of the Client's Guarantee Paperwork and Special Documents
  • Engaging with the Client to chase for information and engagement where required
  • All necessary calls and correspondence to support and prepare the Client's Witness Statement and review and prepare the file for progression to Letter of Claim stage
  • Date of knowledge calls
  • Printing and post for the team
  • Providing calls out of business hours when necessary
  • To accommodate our clients who are not available during the normal working hours, as a business we provide our clients the option of a late call between the hours of 5pm 7pm. It is therefore a requirement of the role to work late, which will be on a rotational basis, approximately every 69 weeks and set to take place on a Thursday.

  • Required:_
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact confidently with both staff and members of the public
  • English GCSE (grade 91, A-C or Key Skills Level 2 or equivalent)
  • Excellent spelling and grammar
  • Proven ability to plan, manage and prioritise workloads in a fastpaced office environment
  • Must be a team player with a flexible approach to working as some evening work might be required to meet the Client's needs
  • Capability to work to strict deadlines and undertake all assignments in a timely manner
  • Desirable:_
  • Graduate Diploma/Degree in field relevant to Legal Services
  • Previous experience of use of Proclaim Case Management Software
  • Knowledge of the Limitation Act 1980
  • Knowledge of GDPR and Data Protection
