Linux Systems Administrator
Inside IR35

Hybrid remote/Bracknell


One of our global life science clients are looking for a Linux Administrator who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring the infrastructure.

This role will be 3 months initially but likely to extend.


Responsibilities

  • Installs new software releases and system upgrades.
  • Evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
  • Performs system backups and recovery.
  • Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
  • Ensure support to business including timely reporting and collection of data.
  • Contribute to data analysis typically for commercial and/or financial functions.
  • Implements work plans and functional or department strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of work plans and execute them independently.

Desired technical knowledge:


  • Hpc cluster / cluster queue like SGE (aka Univa or Altair) Slurm
  • Troubleshooting software / hardware on Linux systems
  • Configuration management like e.g Ansible
  • Bash shell scripting, Python
  • Virtualisation eg VMWare
  • Containerisation e.g Docker, Podman, Singularity
  • Perhaps also Terraform, cloudformations, awscli
