About the role
Braeburn Primary and Nursery Academy are looking to recruit a
Designated Safeguarding Lead. This is a permanent full time position.

As the Designated Safeguarding Lead you will be passionate
about the wellbeing of young people, within this role you will work closely
with vulnerable children and their families to help and support them throughout
their time with us. You will need to have a calm, caring and compassionate
disposition and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of
professionals and families alike.

You will have the ability to lead a team, guiding other
staff members to allow them too confidently support a child who is receiving
child protection intervention. You will also help build a good strong and
effective safeguarding culture across the school and support staff in dealing
with any child protection concerns.

You will become the first point of contact for families
therefore you will need to build strong relationships, allowing you to offer
guidance and advice when needed. You will need to have a sound knowledge of
support that is in place for vulnerable children and families to enable you to
signpost them to relevant services as and when needed.

There will be times where you have to have open discussions
where you may need to deliver difficult messages, you will need to have the
interpersonal skills to allow you to do this in a sensitive and tactful way.


The job requirements
You will work as part of the senior leadership team within
the school, making yourself available to help support and offer advice to other
staff members.

You will have a proven track record of successfully working
with vulnerable children and families ideally this will be from a social work
background.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication
skills, both verbally and written, as you will need to keep detailed case notes
and records of each child and their families. Alongside this you will need to
understand the importance of confidentiality and have the ability to share
information on a need to know basis and in a discreet manner.

You will have had experience of supporting children either
in groups or on a one to one basis and have experience of implementing support
for social, emotional and mental health provision.

You will have a patient and caring nature allowing you stay
calm in the face of challenging behaviour and be able to deescalate situations
quickly and smoothly.
