Senior Specialist Clinical Pharmacist - Critical Care & Antimicrobial Stewardship
Location - The Wellington Hospital, London
Contract Type - Permanent, Full time, 37.5 hours
Band - 7 (equivalent to NHS AfC Band 8a/8b dependent on experience)

About the role
Are you currently an Intensive Care Pharmacist who is looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Specialist Clinical Pharmacist with Critical Care experience to join our pharmacy team at The Wellington Hospital.
We are lookingfor an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with excellent clinical skills to lead and transform our pharmacy services for Critical Care and Antimicrobial Stewardship.
You must possess the vision and enthusiasm to take the services forward.You will be responsible for providing high quality comprehensive clinical pharmacy service across two intensive care units in the Wellington South and North hospitals.
In addition,you will be the lead pharmacist for antimicrobial stewardship where you will oversee the coordination of the microbiology ward rounds and support on the antimicrobial stewardship strategy for the hospital.
The North Intensive Care Unit comprises 12 beds and sees a mix of cardiac, neuro and rehabilitation patients which is a mix of intensive care and high dependent patients.
The South Intensive Care Unit comprises 14 beds and is mixed intensive care and highdependent patient where long term respiratory weaning, sepsis, pre and post general, ortho and spinal surgeries are admitted as well as some medical or oncology patients.
Both units support renal replacement therapy.
Working with some of the best consultants and clinicians this is a great opportunity for someone with initiative and drive to get fully immersed in critical care and antimicrobial stewardship and build on the existing pharmacy services while promoting thebest clinical and safe use of medicines within the hospital.
You will attend daily ward rounds, weekly multidisciplinary meetings, support parenteral nutrition prescribing and be an integral part of the Intensive Care team.
Skills and experience
- Master's Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
- GPhC Registration
- Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience
- Extensive relevant pharmacy experience including providing a clinical pharmacy service to critical care at an advanced level
- Experience of antimicrobial stewardship
- Minimum of 4 years relevant post registration experience.
- Strong initiative and commitment, with a 'can do' attitude to work
- Be enthusiastic with an ability to motivate yourself and team. Possess excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills and demonstrate good problemsolving skills.
