Description
Our Emergency Department prides itself on setting the highest professional standards and providing first-rate care. It treats over 100,000 patients in it's dedicated paediatric, adult and minor injuries units each year.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team of emergency nursing and medical and support staff.

We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic person to work in supporting the team to deliver high standards of care

To clean all clinical surface areas

  • To clean all medical trolleys including shelves
  • To clean all cupboard doors in clinical areas
  • To clean all medical equipment
  • To clean and restock clinical cupboards outside the resuscitation room
  • To clean all drip stands
  • To clean and maintain the dynamaps
  • To clean and restock the ECG machines.
  • Restocking of equipment in cupboards and drawers in majors, resus and assessment
  • To clean and restock the sluice room
  • To maintain and clean the commodes
  • To maintain and clean the stock room
  • To close, dispose and replace sharps bins in clinical areas
  • To check oxygen and suction in each cubicle and trolley is functional
  • To order stores and supplies via eros
  • To maintain stocks via eros including ordering nonstock items
  • To liase with supplies ie outstanding deliveries from external supplies
  • To ensure all nonstock items do not run low and are never depleted
  • To take responsibility for medical devices, stock and nonstock levels in the emergency department including the resuscitation room.

General Responsibilities

  • To ensure all patients and visitors are treated in a polite and considerate manner and receive prompt attention when required
  • Should be aware of own levels of competence and at no time attempt tasks beyond their ability.
  • Be aware of their responsibilities regarding health and safety in all aspects of their work areas: ie COSHH, manual handling etc.
  • Should attend and participate in ward meetings and training sessions. Participate in audits related to ward cleanliness.
  • To adhere to the Hospital policy in relation to patient confidentiality and to respect patients rights' and dignity at all times.
  • To report any accidents and/or incidents occurring to patients, visitors and staff, including to oneself, to the nurse in charge at the time of the incident.
  • To be aware of the procedure to follow in case of fire, cardiac arrest, any other emergency.
  • To ensure the hospital security policy is adhered to and that suspicious circumstances/ individuals/ packages are reported immediately to the nurse in charge.
  • The post holder should not become involved in any financial matters with or on behalf of patients/ relatives.
  • To understand the importance of utilizing resources, ensuring effective communication (verbal and written) in the event of loaning out equipment.
