We have an exciting and highly rewarding role as Head of Safety, Health, and Wellbeing with the Metropolitan Police Service.

We are looking to appoint an experienced and innovative Health, Safety, Occupational Health and Wellbeing expert to this role - withinMPS - one of the most iconic institutions in the UK and a world recognised police service.

The salary is offering between £93,000 and £100,000 per annum dependent on previous relevant experience, and benefits including a top of the class pension contributionand annual leave allowance.

About the Role

  • The role holder will represent the MPS at an international, government and national policing level (NPCC & CoP). Represent the MPS on legal safety compliance issues (including the enforcement action) with HSE, IOPC, HM Coroners and HMICFRS.
  • They will head and direct the MOPAC/MPS Safety, Health and wellbeing maturity project and aligned assurance process to provide safety assurance to the Commissioner and Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime on service delivery and legal compliance within theMPS.
  • The role holder is the first contact for all highlevel contact by Management Board Members and external enforcing agencies
  • Responsible for the Safety and Health Risk Management Team, Occupational Health, including contract suppliers and Wellbeing performance, and service delivery.
  • The Head of Safety, Health & Wellbeing has direct line manager responsibility for 2 staff and secondary reports for 10 staff. And has direct budgetary responsibility for the Safety and Health Risk Management Team budget, Occupational Health
The role holder will be able to demonstrate

  • Professionally recognised health and safety degree (or equivalent) or an occupational health nursing professional related qualification; or Degree or equivalent in a related health discipline and/or relevant service experience in a senior health servicedelivery role.
  • Evidence of innovation and influencing the SLT in a complex working environment and multisite organisation.
  • Ability to formulate and write strategic reports, business cases and appraisals, and present papers and reports at Board level.
  • A strong track record in Safety, Occupational Health and Wellbeing activities across a large organisation with diverse and complex support needs.
  • Experience of heading up contract and supplier management
