This one-year Fellowship post based at the Nottingham NHS Treatment Centre run by Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH), is designed for sub-specialty training to gain expertise in cutaneous surgery, Mohs surgery, laser therapy, photodynamic therapy and skin cancer management.

Attendance at SSMDT, educational meetings [local, national and international] and Research and Audit will be encouraged. The Fellow will be expected to make presentations and to publish widely.


The successful applicant will work closely within the existing skin cancer service and with the existing experienced Mohs surgeons Dr Sandeep Varma and Dr Anand Patel.

This fellowship will be in its 15th year of its inception when the Fellowship starts. Independent instruction and support of Juniors and other colleagues will augment the Fellow's own teaching.

Post-CCT Fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Advanced Dermatological Surgery [12 month post]

The post is suitable for a post-CCT dermatology trainee or a trainee who is within 6 months of CCT.

All training programmes are equally open to those who may, either from the outset or subsequently, wish to train flexibly (if eligible) or job share.

You must be registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practice.


Applicants should have MRCP or equivalent and must be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT [Dermatology] or CESR (CP) at the date of interview for the post.

Hours of work are: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • MRCP or equivalent CCT in Dermatology or within 6 months
  • Continuous and full registration with the General Medical Council and holding a licence to practise is mandatory
  • Eligible to be included on the Specialist Register
  • Extensive experience and training in dermatology
Desirable criteria

  • MSc, MD or PhD
  • Expertise in a dermatology subspecialty especially skin cancer/skin surgery

  • Be able to demonstrate an interest in skin cancer and surgery
Desirable criteria

  • Have previous experience and training in dermatological surgery would be desirable
