Full time/37 hrs a week/permanent (Occasionally required to work outside or normal hours)


Location:
Based location flexible across either Lincoln, Huntingdon or Peterborough.

This role covers our entire region which stretches from the Humber right down to the Thames so travel is required.

The Flood Partnership Advisor (FPA) plays a crucial role as the primary liaison with our partners, aiding local Water Recycling Network teams in pinpointing and addressing flooding concerns for customers.


This role holds significant importance, involving collaboration with various flood Risk Management Authorities (RMAs) and external partners such as the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, District Councils, Highway Authorities, Internal Drainage Boards, and more.


The core focus of this position is hands-on engagement in flood risk and surface water management, striving to identify and execute collaborative solutions with other organisations.

What you'll be doing:


  • Be a key communicator with various flood Risk Management Authorities (RMAs) and external partners such as the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, District Councils, Highway Authorities, Internal Drainage Boards, and more.
  • You will participate in local investigations and case reviews to support in progressing partnership funded solutions or mitigation measures, championing the Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) first approach
  • Be the lead role to coordinate business responses and input into local flood investigations (s19 of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010) including the provision of appropriate data to partners
  • Help deliver operational actions outlined in s19 investigations or local flood risk management strategies, wherever possible in partnership with other RMAs
  • Use local knowledge and contacts to identify opportunities to work in partnership, and build these into future delivery plans
  • Liaise with RMAs by attending meetings to discuss progress of projects and programmes and log the impacts/benefits to our own partnership funding programme
  • Work with other local authority teams, including Highways and Public Open Space/Parks teams to champion the SuDS first approach to surface water management
  • Assist with public engagement, helping to educate communities of the benefit of a SuDS first surface water management approach
What does it take to be successful?

  • Proven experience in an operational/service focussed environment or educated to national level (HNC/degree level in science, natural science or an engineering discipline).
  • This is a region wide role, as such regular commuting across our region is essential. A Full driving licence is required.
  • Be comfortable to represent Anglian Water in public forums
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to take the initiative and manage the expectations of local partners while we look to resolve local flooding issues in partnership
  • Be a capable and effective planner of your time and willing to travel around the region and participate in events occasionally out of normal working hours.
  • Experience of working in partnership with external stakeholders
  • Understanding Anglian Water's role as a Risk Management Authority
  • An ability to work flexibly
