Description

To support the emergency and AMU teams to provide effective, efficient service to patients that meets national targets for delivery through the facilitation of appropriate flow of patients through the Emergency Department and AMU and providing timely admissions and safe discharges whilst ensuring the patients' experience is that set by the trust values.


  • To monitor patient length of stay in the ED for all areas of the department via the iClip system.
  • To attend regular huddles in the ED and/or AMU on a daily basis and carry out actions identified during the rounds that are necessary to facilitate the flow of patients out of the department.
  • To work with the Nurse in Charge and Nurse Coordinator, lead consultant and members of the Multidisciplinary teams to ensure that data collection is performed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • To be responsible for tracking the diagnostic/treatment pathways for patients and for monitoring whether patients are being treated in accordance with the local timeline. This will require the post holder to have a good working knowledge of patient pathways within the department and the Trust.

Customer Service:


  • To answer the telephone in a courteous manner and relay both oral and written messages accurately and promptly.
  • To greet all visitors to the department courteously and in a professional manner.
  • To establish and maintain good relationships with visitors, relatives and staff, helping them to find their way around the clinical or ward environment and hospital site.
  • To be punctual at all times.

Professional Development:


  • To participate in the Trust's Individual Performance Review process and demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional development by working towards the objectives agreed within an annual Personal Development Plan.
  • To attend annual mandatory training

General:


  • To have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirement of the Health and Safety Regulations.
  • To ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and its amendments.
  • To work in accordance with the Trust's Equality and Diversity policy to eliminate unlawful discrimination in relation to employment and service delivery.
  • To ensure skills are uptodate and relevant to the role, to follow relevant Trust policies and professional codes and to maintain registration where this is a requirement of the role.
  • To comply with the Trust's No Smoking Policies.
  • To undertake such duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the grade and the needs of the service.
