We are looking for a Junior Underwriter, Offshore Energy, based in London.

Your Team
The Offshore Renewables and Upstream Energy Team is part of the wider Natural Resources & Construction Team in London. The risks covered are both the operational and construction of Offshore Renewables and Upstream Energy assets.

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Underwriting Team Leader, you will independently prepare underwriting process within your own area of responsibility and expertise.

You will also liaise with other functions to ensure timely/accurate policy administration while developing and maintaining peer level relationships with brokers.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets within specified authority.
Participate in acquiring and retaining business, engaging in negotiations with clients and brokers as needed.
Proactively gather underwriting information, including client and market research, and claims data.
Assist in evaluating Natural Catastrophe Accumulation for relevant Lines of Business.
Ensure underwriting compliance with governance frameworks, such as Underwriting Authorities and Guidelines.
Assist in achieving contract certainty and binding of FAC Reinsurance prior to policy inception.
Manage policy documentation, premium booking, credit control, and collaborate with other functions for query resolution.

What You'll Bring to the Role

Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB
Understand the policy administration life cycle, including information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, and cancellation.
Clearly and effectively express ideas and messages through presentations, speeches, or in writing.
Effectively absorb information from various sources, analyse, study, or examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions.
Demonstrate evidence of building relationships with brokers at the peer group level.
Basic understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape.
Understanding of the legal and regulatory framework.
Experience working in a complex, global matrix organisation.
