Shore Medical is a GP Super Partnership with 6 practices across Poole and Bournemouth.

We have a friendly and supportive team of more than 200 staff, with over 40 GP's, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Nurses, Mental Health specialists and our range of administrative staff.

The Practices in the Partnership are:

  • Lilliput Surgery
  • Poole Road Medical Centre
  • Wessex Road Surgery
  • Heatherview Medical Centre
  • Fernside Surgery
  • Parkstone Tower Practice


Situated in beautiful Dorset with the prestigious Blue Flag beaches of Bournemouth and Sandbanks, the Jurassic coastline and a wealth of attractions and countryside to visit we are lucky to be in such a fantastic area.


We are seeking a
Patient Services Clerk to join our friendly team and provide excellent customer service and project a professional image for the Surgery.

To provide accurate, efficient and punctual medical administration support to Partners, GPs, Registrars and Practice Nurses at our
Parkstone Tower Practice in Poole Dorset
  • To deal with all administrative queries and tasks from clinicians and act as liaison with the patients as necessary
  • Assisting patients with booking Nursing appointments as required
  • Greeting and checking in patients for prebooked appointments
  • Carrying out a review of any patient records that are accessed to identify and update and outstanding QOF targets
  • Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from clutter
  • To provide a high quality administration service to the practice and its patients.
  • Responsible for opening and scanning post into our clinical system and processing demographics
  • Franking outgoing post and taking to Post Office, along with 'Signed For' parcels.
  • Update patient records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Registering temporary patients.
  • Responsible for maintaining patient data security in accordance with practice protocols at all times
  • To undertake additional tasks as required by the line manager or GP Partners.
  • Recording proof of ID, and checking new patient registrations
  • Recording of patient blood pressure recordings
  • Being prepared to cover all reception positions as necessary
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Opening up and locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Process patient death certificates and cremation forms
  • Any other duties as required on a permanent, part time basis.
32.5 hours per week

Working pattern

  • Mon , Tues , Weds and Thurs

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:


  • Proven administration experience in a GP/NHS department environment would be highly desirable.
  • Educated to high standard of GCSE in Maths, English language
  • Strong IT skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • To have tact and diplomacy in direct and indirect emotional circumstances
  • To possess excellent, calming and professional telephone manner
  • Knowledge of the NHS an advantage
  • Able to get on with others and be a teamplayer in a sometimes, pressurised and timesensitive environment
