At the University Hospital North Midlands we have a fantastic opportunity for a Fixed Term Contract or Secondment for 12 months to join our Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) team as an AfC Band 7 EPRR Officer, reporting to our Head of EPRR, which will provide an excellent developmental opportunity for someone within the EPRR field.


The EPRR team are responsible for managing the overall Trust Business Continuity process; planning for identified EPRR risks, including (but not restricted to) adverse weather, Major/Mass Casualty incidents, Pandemic and CBRN.

The Trust delivers care across two main sites, including a Regional Major Trauma Centre at Royal Stoke University Hospital, and County Hospital, Stafford; and the EPRR team have a presence across both sites.


The EPRR Officer will assist the Head of EPRR and the EPRR Manager; in delivering the requirements of the NHS England Annual Core Standards for EPRR, and may be required to travel between Trust sites, or occasionally to off-site partner agencies.

The successful applicant will be supported to undertake the role within a defined scope of practice, and will be expected to work alongside our current EPRR Support Officer.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Head of EPRR, and EPRR Manager in the safe and cost-effective provision of the Trust Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) function, and if applicable the provision of training to on call and site management staff.


As a member of the Trust EPRR team, the post holder is will have responsibility for defined workstreams, commensurate with their level of experience and expertise, and will be accountable to the Head of EPRR for the delivery of these workstream, which will form part of the overarching work plan for the Trust EPRR annual assurance process.


The EPRR team respond to incidents and emergencies as defined by in the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, and provide support to the Trust Incident Management Team in responding to Business Continuity, Critical or Major Incidents, as defined within the NHS England EPRR Framework (2022), and as such, there may be a requirement to occasionally undertake (infrequent) ad-hoc work outside of normal working hours.

The post holder is accountable to the Head of EPRR.

The post holder will support the Head of EPRR and the EPRR Manager and manage the implementation and development of EPRR including business continuity plans, training, communication and exercising for the Trust ensuring delivery of performance outcomes.

Other projects may be assigned within the remit of the Operations Directorate to ensure delivery of key aims and objectives.


Responsible for risk assessing, planning the development and implementation of all arrangements relating to integration and delivery of Business Continuity Plans, training and exercising programmes and communication compliance across two hospital sites in support of the Head of EPRR contributing to theUniversity Hospitals North Midlands preparedness, resilience and ability to respond to and recover from incidents and emergencies as defined in the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.

Ensuring national and local standards are met including NHS EPRR Framework monitored through EPRR Annual Assurance process and any other relevant guidance.
