This post is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive Gastroenterology Department at the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

You will join the current 13 substantive Consultant Gastroenterologists providing high quality Gastroenterology and Hepatology care to a population of over 550,000 in Hull and East Yorkshire, and tertiary care services to a wider catchment area of 1.2 million.

The department has established expertise in IBD, Hepatology and therapeutic endoscopy. There are two busy endoscopy units with eight endoscopy rooms across both hospital sites. Both units are bowel cancer screening accredited.

Endoscopic training is a strong focus of the department, which is also home to the renowned Yorkshire School of Endoscopy (YSE).


The Trust has recently received a generous donation for the development of a purpose built eight room endoscopy centre at Castle Hill Hospital, which will house all endoscopy service and training activity, as well as research facilities.

It is anticipated that the Allam Digestive Centre will be operational during the summer of 2023 and increase the overall number of endoscopy rooms in the Trust by three.
