We are seeking a clinician who wants to build on existing interest and experience with this client group in a supportive environment where there are opportunities for further training and personal and professional development.

The successful applicant would need to be either a registered professional or working towards professional registration in a core profession, including psychotherapy.

An aptitude for working psychotherapeutically is essential.

To provide a specialist service to clients in treatment within the personality disorder pathway

The role will require the post holder to:

  • Undertake assessment of emotional and psychological needs of patients referred to the pathway
  • Formulate and implement appropriate treatment plans and provide structured clinical management treatment at the same time as acting as key worker to those patients who require it, working closely with the multidisciplinary team in the unit
  • Liaise with other professionals to contribute to the establishment of continuity of care across service
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures
  • Manage a caseload of patients, in close collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team, within the Dialog + framework and to agreed local and national standards.
  • Ensure that continuity of care is maintained and that appropriate and timely plans are made for the discharge of patients from the inpatient facilities ensuring Section 117 and other statutory and legal responsibilities are discharged.
  • Carry out assessments and assign patients to care clusters within the framework of the Health of the Nation Outcome Scales Payment by Results (HoNOS PbR) at first assessment, at review, at times of significant change in presentation and at the end of treatment.

The Personality Disorder Pathway in Haringey is one of the oldest and most well established teams of its kind in the UK.

It was the birthplace of two evidence based treatmennts for personality disorder - Mentalisation based therapy and Structured Clinical Management.

There is an emphasis on team working and reflective practice and the team maintains a good reputation within the Trust as a supportive and collaborative service.

The PD Pathway is one pathway within the newly configured Complex Emotional Needs Team, which includes other pathways for clients with other personality disorders and PTSD.

The Trust as a whole is a supportive workplace with an emphasis on innovation, quality improvement and learning. A psychological emphasis is embedded in the Trusts management structures.

The Trust is well on the way to developing it's community mental health services, including the PD Pathway, in line with the Mental Health Transformation agenda.
