Urology Outpatients are a close knit team who always strive to give the best service to our patients. We support each other & work together to gain the best results.

With patient care & experience as our main driver we offer a variety of services within the Department, making every day different.

Clinics run from Monday to Friday & we are open from 8am to 6pm

Main duties of the job
-
Clinical1.

1 HWB2 Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse, carry out nursing HWB5 procedures following verification of competency and assist with the care and treatment of patients, this will include:


Assisting with meeting the comfort and hygiene needs of patients which will include washing/bathing, oral care, escorting to toilet, assisting with bed pans/commodes, making beds and dealing with dirty linen in accordance with procedures.

Assisting patients in taking medications including nebulisers under the supervision of registered staff

Assisting the registered staff with taking and recording patients' temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure and completing patient fluid balance charts


Assisting with meeting the dietary needs of patients which will include distribution of drinks and meals and helping patients to eat and drink as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Assist with daily decontamination duties to ensure safe provision of equipment for patient procedure lists


Required to carry out a number of designated tasks, of which will involve direct care, in support of and under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Following appropriate training and assessment, undertake clinical and non-clinical duties in support of the registered nurse.

Comms & Relationship Skills

Essential criteria

  • Basic Literacy/Numeracy
  • Good communication skills and good command of written and spoken English
Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • Recognition of own level of competence and limitations and able to communicate these to appropriate staff
Physical Skills

Essential criteria

  • Ability to regularly maneuver equipment/stock with assistance in line with Trust policy
  • Plan, prioritise and organise own workload, working on own initiative within set guidelines
Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in a healthcare environment.
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety issues.

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
