Greyfriars House, Perth

Greyfriars House offers temporary accommodation for adult individuals who lack access to permanent housing.


As an Accommodation Assistant, you will play a key role within a team to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of residents and the premises.


You will work shifts on a rotational basis that include early, back, and night shifts, as well as weekends and lone working, with a corresponding shift allowance.


You will undertake various tasks, including:

  • Registration of residents.
  • Surveillance of CCTV.
  • Cleaning of rooms and shared areas.
  • Maintenance of a safe and well-kept environment.
  • Collection of service charges.
  • Procurement of goods and services.
  • Documentation tasks.
  • Collaboration with internal and external parties.
  • Handling of confidential information.
  • Resolution of challenging situations.
The role is dynamic, offering variety, challenges, and rewards. It requires building relationships with residents to provide guidance and support for their transition from Greyfriars to independent living.

Requirements:


Proficiency in IT is crucial for operating CCTV and other systems effectively. Attention to detail, accuracy, and effective communication skills are essential.

You should have prior experience in one of the following areas:

  • Substance misuse.
  • Mental health.
  • Social work.
  • Handling abuse cases.
A non-judgemental and empathetic approach towards residents is necessary, along with the ability to offer support and guidance on various issues that may arise.


Firm yet compassionate responses are needed for challenging behaviors. Maintaining confidentiality and organizational skills are vital for managing tasks efficiently in this fast-paced role.


You must possess resilience to handle the demands and emergencies effectively, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.


Familiarity with Health and Safety laws, Housing and Homeless legislation, and the Scottish Social Service Council's Codes of Practice is important to maintain standards.


Comprehensive induction and continuous training opportunities will be provided, including internal and external programs.


While not mandatory, having an SVQ2 in Health and Social Care/Social Services and Health Care or equivalent qualification is advantageous.
