Job Description:

Purpose of the role

We are currently recruiting for a _PVD Technologist _to join our multidisciplinary and growing PVD team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical / electronic control and interface design
  • Electrical assembly design
  • Joint design (with Mech Des Eng) of electrical enclosures using Solid Edge
  • Wiring harness design
  • AC/DC power distribution circuit design
  • Analogue and digital circuit design
  • Fault finding / problem solving
  • Designing critical safety circuits to comply with EN1384
  • Technical report writing
  • Producing engineering drawings, build and test guides.
  • Compiling documents to facilitate system audit against industry standards
  • Mentoring Junior electrical design Engineers

For this role we are looking for someone with the following:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • 8 years proven experience working in a PVD design role
  • Strong understanding of Machinery safety regulations and EU harmonized standards
  • Specific knowledge of EN6024, EN13849 required
  • Understanding of UL/NFPA regulations
  • Experience in design of safety circuits
  • AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent experience
  • 3D CAD experience is desirable (not essential)
  • Knowledge / experience of the semiconductor industry preferred but not essential.

Key Skills:

  • Flexible work ethic (take on varied tasks, carry out desk work and hands on).
  • Good analytical and faultfinding skills
  • Ability to use your own initiative
  • Good oral and written communication skills and able to mentor junior engineers
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team


This position offers the opportunity to take on some project management tasks, coordinating with other engineering teams coupled with the prospect for some international travel.


Shift working is not typically required for this role but some level of non-standard hours may be expected on rare occasions.

Some WFH flexibility is available.

Minimum Qualifications

7+ years direct PVD experience and 12+ years of industry experience
